What you can expect as an AOG Maintenance Controller at West Star:

The AOG Maintenance Controller is primarily responsible for handling customer calls for 24/7 maintenance support or general inquiries. The Controller will effectively authorize, monitor, control and execute all in-coming and out-going maintenance. They will communicate effectively with each technician and customer while having 100% situational awareness for each maintenance event knowing where technicians are geographically while swiftly monitoring the daily maintenance events. This position will have overtime and will need a team player who can cover other shifts as needed.

You will be ESSENTIAL to many FUNCTIONS including:

  • Take ownership of all email and telephone traffic from potential customers seeking aircraft maintenance.
  • Primary single point-of-contact for all parties regarding AOG aircraft maintenance.
  • Coordinate the daily maintenance events with technicians, administration and parts department.
  • Work closely with dayshift and nightshift Maintenance Controllers to cover all shifts internally within the maintenance controller group.
  • Assist the technicians with setting up tooling/parts/hangar space that would be related to maintenance events.
  • Provide tracking of parts and equipment while they are in transit to all AOG aircraft.
  • Foster positive teamwork, encouragement, and unity among all AOG Technicians.
  • Ensure maintenance work is completed timely, accurately and worry free.
  • Provide oversight and management for all AOG work schedules.
  • Delegate responsibilities to each Technician by carefully communicating the details of each maintenance event.
  • Provide regular status updates with technicians and customers.
  • Provide daily detailed shift change reports to the AOG team and business leaders.
  • Be the influential manager, the eyes and ears of the business, controlling the resources and guiding each Technician appropriately.
  • Be well versed in each AOG Technician’s background, experience and abilities.
  • Monitor, manage and oversee the progress of each maintenance event through completion.
  • Proactive coaching and mentoring to Technicians and AOG Controllers.
  • Assist in the AOG Technician performance review process offering feedback based on their job knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Monitor business metrics and goals daily.
  • Work closely with administrative support with labor hours, invoicing, and business metrics and goals.
  • Make quick and accurate decisions while monitoring the daily workload ensuring maintenance goals are being met.
  • Ensure each customer has the understanding and confidence that Jet East is the best choice for maintenance, proving not only options, but guidance and recommendations.
  • Accountable and responsible for making sure the right Technician is working on the right job.
  • Serve as an advocate for the business making sure each decision is in the best interest of the company.
  • Contact new and existing customers to discuss AOG needs.
  • Negotiate labor rates and estimated hours with customer.
  • Effectively and clearly communicate (i.e., speak, write, read) in English
  • Any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management.

What you’ll need to bring with you:

Your Education:
A High school diploma or equivalent is required.
A FAA A&P License is required
A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal

Your Experience:
5+ years of experience working as an A&P mechanic on various models of corporate aircraft

Your Initiative:

Your Sense of Responsibility:
Attend work every day as scheduled to include overtime and weekend assignments.
Notify supervisor in advance of shift starting if unable to work.
Must have reliable transportation to get to work each and every day.
Perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines.
Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties.
Maintain customer-oriented work habits.
