What you can expect as a HR Generalist at West Star:

As a Generalist, you’ll be a key part of our Shared Services team, supporting a variety of HR and operational functions across the company. Your role will require a mix of responsibilities, flexibility, and attention to detail. The ability to maintain high levels of communication, confidentiality, and professionalism will be essential in your day-to-day interactions with employees and other departments.

This is a full-time position with the flexibility to work remotely or at one of our company locations. We offer a work schedule of Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week, with the option to adapt to different time zones when necessary. Occasionally, you may be asked to work outside normal hours to accommodate employee events or other special circumstances, so flexibility is important.

You will be ESSENTIAL to many FUNCTIONS including:

Drug and Alcohol Program

  • Schedule pre-employment drug tests.
  • Issue, collect, and review pre-employment D&A paperwork.
  • Send out 2-year previous history checks.
  • Add & remove employees to drug program.
  • Track completion of D&A Employee Training.
  • Assign D&A Supervisor Training.
  • Assist in creating the Random ePassport.

Contractor Processing

  • Communicate with Agency and Manager regarding incoming contractors.
  • Collect and save new contractor paperwork.
  • Add new contractors into HRIS systems and Monday.com tracker.
  • Contractor removal process.

Terminations

  • Remove full-time employee from HRIS systems.
  • Generate relocation/training agreements invoices.
  • Communicate exit details to employees.
  • Process offboarding for employees.

Onboarding New Hires

  • Process background checks.
  • Send and process pre-hire paperwork.
  • Coordinate IT equipment requests.
  • Coordinate New Hire Orientation.
  • Conduct I-9 Verification.
  • Confirm Benefit Elections.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
What you’ll need to bring with you:

Your Education:
A High school diploma or equivalent is required.
A Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field is preferred. We will consider 2-5 years of equivalent work experience in lieu of a degree.
A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not mandatory.

Your Experience:
Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point experience required.
Experience using HRIS systems (ADP preferred), ATS, project management software like Monday.com, Smartsheets or Asana highly preferred.

Your Initiative:
We’re looking for a team player who is self-motivated and able to perform in a fast-paced environment where working under specific deadlines and time constraints will be common. This person will also need to always maintain confidentiality and have excellent organizational and communication skills.

Your Sense of Responsibility:
Attend work every day as scheduled
Notify the supervisor in advance of shift starting if unable to work.
Must have reliable transportation to get to work each day.
Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties

Lift and carry up to 10 lbs
Routine walking, bending, stooping and sitting.

Work under the supervision of the Manager of Shared Services

Equipment Used
FAX machine, telephone and photocopier.
Personal computer operating with Windows, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Outlook and various other programs.

Compensation & Benefit Information

The following information is disclosed according to state specific requirements. If the position applied to is not in a state with these requirements, the following information may not apply. The hourly rate for this position generally ranges between 26.00 - 31.00. Actual hourly rate will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience and performance. Additional compensation in the form of a shift differential will be provided if the employee is assigned to an alternate shift. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package. Other forms of compensation include a semi-annual discretionary bonus, 401(k) company match and employer contribution to a Health Savings Account (HSA).
