This is a full-time, hourly nonexempt position reporting directly to the HR Director and based on-site in either Statesville, NC or Millville, NJ, with approximately 25% - 35% travel and additional travel as needed .

What you can expect as an HR Generalist at West Star:
As an HR Generalist, you’ll provide HR and benefits support for our multi-site division while performing a variety of administrative and HR-related duties. Your responsibilities will vary each day, requiring strong organization, attention to detail, and strong communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.

You will be ESSENTIAL to many FUNCTIONS including:

  • Serve as an HR resource for employees and leadership across our Millville, NJ and Statesville, NC facilities.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
  • Support leadership with employee relations matters and assist employees with workplace questions, complaints, and concerns.
  • Distribute company communications through email, bulletin boards, orientation materials, and other communication methods.
  • Perform onboarding duties, including pre-employment background checks and drug testing.
  • Conduct orientation for new hires and newly eligible employees.
  • Assist employees with 401(k) and benefit enrollment, questions, troubleshooting, and benefit information.
  • Provide employee training and HR guidance as needed.
  • Maintain digital HR files, including employee, drug and alcohol, workers’ compensation, benefits, I-9, and FMLA documentation.
  • Complete employment verifications as needed.
  • Support the DER and Assistant DER with random drug testing and other drug and alcohol program responsibilities.
  • Utilize ADP Lyric, GR8 People, SharePoint, Monday.com, and other HR systems to maintain accurate employee information and documentation.
  • Support the HR Director, HR Manager, and operational leadership with HR-related projects and assignments.
  • Complete HR and benefit responsibilities in compliance with applicable federal and state regulations.
  • Identify opportunities and provide feedback to improve HR processes and employee support.
  • Perform other HR duties and projects as assigned


What you’ll need to bring with you:

Your Education:
A high school diploma or GED is required.

A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or five years of equivalent work experience in lieu of a degree is required.

Your Experience:
Experience working in a service-oriented environment is preferred.

Working knowledge of current human resources regulations.
Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams.
Experience with ADP products, SharePoint, GR8 People, Monday.com or similar HR systems is a plus.

Physical Requirements

Working Conditions
Work will be performed in an office environment. Occasional overtime, weekend work, and overnight travel may be required based on business needs.


Equipment Used
Company-issued computer with Windows, Microsoft Office, Teams, Outlook, SharePoint, GR8 People, ADP Lyric and Monday.com, plus other software, platforms or office equipment required for the role.

Compensation & Benefit Information

The following information is disclosed according to state specific requirements. If the position applied to is not in a state with these requirements, the following information may not apply. The hourly rate for this position generally ranges between $30 - $34. Actual hourly rate will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience and performance. Additional compensation in the form of a shift differential will be provided if the employee is assigned to an alternate shift. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package. Other forms of compensation include a semi-annual discretionary bonus, 401(k) company match and employer contribution to a Health Savings Account (HSA).
