What you can expect as a Avionics Repair Team Lead at West Star:
The Team Leads responsibility is to supervise a team and direct project flow. In addition to human resource skills, this position requires extensive knowledge of aircraft airframe and instrument systems. The job includes varying amounts of parts replacement or repair, electrical troubleshooting, inspection of aircraft or systems and general mechanic application. Supervision of the team and direction of project flow will be a primary function. Overall coordination of work flow for the project will also be required. Work order processing, log book, entries, required FAA forms and pricing to the customers are routine duties. Job duties may vary each day and will encompass projects as designated by the Avionics Repair Manager. Will be required to work independently and lead multiple projects. Will have direct customer contact.

You will be ESSENTIAL to many FUNCTIONS including:
· Team Management: Supervise, mentor, and guide a team of avionics technicians, foster a positive work environment, encourage teamwork, and enhance technician skills through on-the-job training and performance coaching. Participate in hiring and disciplinary matters while conducting quarterly performance assessments and feedback. Ideal candidate as a successor to the Program or Project Manager and receives mentoring as well.
· Program Operations: Provide daily oversight of assigned technicians to include setting technician work schedules and being available to support meeting aircraft deliveries, reviewing time charges and daily manpower scheduling. Collaborate with assigned Leads to ensure adequate manpower, parts and other resource needs for project success. Partner with other Team Leads to adjust manpower by team to ensure program goals and aircraft schedules are met accordingly.
· Compliance and Safety: Ensure strict adherence to aviation regulations, safety protocols, and company policies to maintain a safe working environment for all team members and customers.
· Quality Assurance: Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure the highest standards of service delivery and compliance with company quality assurance guidelines.
· Training and Development: Coordinate and conduct training programs to equip team members with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively and build skill proficiency.
· Process Improvement: Identify areas for process enhancement and implement strategies to optimize team workflows, efficiency, and overall productivity.
· Resource Management: Oversee the maintenance of service center tools, equipment, and hangar spaces to ensure adequate availability and proper storage or working order. Address concerns and needs timely to the Program Manager.
· Reporting and Documentation: Ensure all assigned team members maintain accurate and up-to-date records of activities, to include work orders, R&I forms, parts tags, resolutions, reports, and relevant documentation.
· Effectively and clearly communicate (i.e., speak, write, read) in English.
· Any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management.

What you’ll need to bring with you:

Your Education
A High school diploma or equivalent.
Repairman, FCC, or similar certificates highly preferred.
Aircraft specific factory training preferred.
A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not mandatory.

Your Experience
8+ years prior experience on aircraft maintenance/ avionics to include involvement in supervision of four or more team members. An advanced knowledge of FAA paperwork, work orders and use of Corridor systems.

Must perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines.

Maintain customer oriented work habits.
Direct the work and flow of multiple projects.
Supervision of team members in daily operations and duties.
Completion of work orders, FAA paperwork.

Other Particulars:

Physical Requirements
Lift at least 50 lbs.
Routine walking, bending and squatting or sitting.
Routing or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands.
Basic personal computer operations.

Supervision
Will directly supervise multiple technicians.
Will work under supervision of assigned Manager.
Work with other Team Leaders on multiple projects in a cooperative manner.

Working Conditions
The majority of work will be accomplished in a hangar environment which can include very hot or very cold temperatures.
Work outside during aircraft runs will occur.
Varied positions in and around the aircraft.

Equipment Used
Personal hand tools supplied by the mechanic.
Pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical equipment.
Jacks, stands, lifts and other support devices.
Tugs, power carts and other engine powered equipment.
Electronic Diagnostic Signal Generators.
Personal computer and work order prints.

Compensation & Benefit Information

The following information is disclosed according to state specific requirements. If the position applied to is not in a state with these requirements, the following information may not apply. The hourly rate for this position generally ranges between $44-$50. Actual hourly rate will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience and performance. Additional compensation in the form of a shift differential will be provided if the employee is assigned to an alternate shift. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package. Other forms of compensation include a semi-annual discretionary bonus, 401(k) company match and employer contribution to a Health Savings Account (HSA).
