What you can expect as a Chief Inspector at DAS Aviation:

This position will assist the overall operation of the Quality Assurance Department and will have authority in the releasing to service of landing gear, plating and accessory components.  In addition, the Chief Inspector is responsible for directing, planning, auditing and laying out the details of inspection standards, methods, and procedures used by the repair station in complying with all applicable Federal Aviation Regulations, manufacturer's specifications and recommendations.       

You will be ESSENTIAL to many FUNCTIONS including:

  • Assist, supervise, and direct all personnel assigned to the Quality Department.
  • Liaise with the FAA as required to ensure the repair station continues compliance with the FAA regulations. To include other government regulatory agencies such as EASA, etc.
  • Assure that all inspections are properly performed in process, on all completed work and that the proper inspection records, reports, and forms used by the repair station are completed and executed prior to releasing the product for return to service.
  • Determine that all technical data on articles Inspected, Overhauled or Repaired by the repair station are kept current with latest revisions.
  • Assure that all tools and precision equipment requiring calibration are calibrated at the required intervals for the repair station.
  • Oversee the final acceptance through receiving inspections of all incoming material, including new parts, supplies, and the airworthiness of articles.
  • Assure that the proper inspection records, reports, and forms used by the repair station are available to all personnel.
  • Assure that the technicians properly execute complete log entries sign-offs, travelers, forms and work orders used by the repair station.
  • Work directly with customers as needed to meet their airworthiness needs.
  • Effectively and clearly communicate (i.e., speak, write, read) in English.
  • Any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management. 

What you’ll need to bring with you: 

Your Education:
A High school diploma or equivalent.
A&P License will be required.
Inspection Authorization (IA) rating is recommended.
A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not required. 

Your Experience:
3 years landing gear, plating and accessory inspection experience with return to service authority required.
Use of FAA paperwork and regulations recommended.
Auditing Experience recommended.
Computer literacy in word processing and spreadsheets.
Ability to read electrical and structural prints is recommended.
Previous log research experience recommended.
Customer service experience recommended.

Other particulars: 

Physical Requirements                  
Lift and carry at least 25 lbs.
Bend, reach and stoop when around aircraft.
Sit at desk and / or computer for extended intervals.
Routinely walking. 

Mental Requirements                     
Prioritize and control work load.
Work with others in a professional manner.
Work with Quality Department personnel in interpretation and communication of regulations. 

Supervision        
Work with minimal supervision. 

Working Conditions                       
The majority of work will be performed in a office environment.
Some occasional work outside hangars may occur. 

Equipment Used
Computer systems including Corridor Aviation Service software, personal computers operating with Windows, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and various other programs.
