What you can expect as a Material Control Team Lead at West Star:

As a vital leader in our aviation MRO facility, you will drive daily logistics, purchasing support, and inventory operations. In this role, you can expect to act as a working lead, balancing hands-on parts coordination with team mentorship, workflow optimization, and strict FAA compliance. Partnering closely with the Materials Manager, you will ensure total component traceability, eliminate maintenance delays, and empower your team to safely support aircraft production demands in a fast-paced environment.

You will be ESSENTIAL to the following functions:

Assist in leading and coordinating daily Material Control operations including shipping, receiving, inventory control, purchasing support, warehouse operations, and logistics activities.
Provide daily direction, support, and training to Material Control personnel.
Support the Materials Manager in maintaining efficient workflow and operational effectiveness.
Assist in monitoring material usage, inventory levels, and operational needs to ensure timely support of production requirements.
Collaborate with internal departments including Inspection, Sales, Production, and Quality to ensure efficient and accurate material handling processes.
Maintain high standards of certification, traceability, and documentation for all parts and materials received and shipped.
Assist in resolving shipping discrepancies, inventory variances, invoice concerns, and vendor-related issues.
Support process improvement initiatives to increase productivity, efficiency, and organization within Material Control operations.
Ensure compliance with FAA regulations, company procedures, and safety requirements.
Coordinate and prioritize multiple projects and departmental tasks.
Assist with loading, unloading, handling, and transporting materials as required.
Serve as backup support for Shipping/Receiving, inventory, and warehouse personnel when needed.
Promote a customer-oriented and team-focused work environment.
Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties.
Effectively and clearly communicate (i.e., speak, write, read) in English
Perform any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management.

What you’ll need to bring with you:

Your Education

Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Management, Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field preferred.
Must possess strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not mandatory. 

Your Experience

Must have 3–5 years of experience in Material Control, Shipping/Receiving, Logistics, Inventory Control, or Purchasing operations.
Aviation parts or aviation materials experience preferred.
Previous lead or supervisory experience preferred.
Experience with FAA paperwork, inventory systems, work orders, and billing processes beneficial.
Must have prior computer experience with mainframe and PC database systems.
Experience with ERP systems and Microsoft Office preferred.
Customer service and vendor interaction experience required.

Coordinate multiple projects and operational priorities effectively.

Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
Routine walking, bending, standing, and stair usage.
Routine or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands.
Significant computer and office system usage.
Ability to work in office, warehouse, dock, and shop environments.

Understanding and implementation of regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
Ability to evaluate personnel and operational situations effectively.
Ability to coordinate multiple projects and priorities.

Supervision
Will work under supervision of the Materials Manager.
May provide daily leadership and direction to Material Control personnel.
Work cooperatively with other department leaders and managers on multiple projects.
Expected to work with minimal supervision.

Working Conditions
Majority of work accomplished in office, warehouse, and dock environments.
Varied positions in and around shop and operational areas.

Equipment Used
Personal computer and ERP/work order systems.
Telephone and other office communication equipment.
Barcode scanners and inventory equipment.
Forklift and material handling equipment (if certified).
Standard office and warehouse equipment.

Compensation & Benefit Information

The following information is disclosed according to state specific requirements. If the position applied to is not in a state with these requirements, the following information may not apply. The hourly rate for this position generally ranges between $30-$34 per hour. Actual hourly rate will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience and performance. Additional compensation in the form of a shift differential will be provided if the employee is assigned to an alternate shift. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package. Other forms of compensation include a semi-annual discretionary bonus, 401(k) company match and employer contribution to a Health Savings Account (HSA).
