What you can expect as a Teardown & Evaluation Technician at DAS Aviation: 

The Teardown & Evaluation Technician is responsible for the disassembly, inspection, evaluation, and maintenance support of aviation articles and component assemblies in accordance with approved technical data, manufacturer specifications, company procedures, and applicable Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations. 

This position supports repair and overhaul operations by performing teardown activities to expose hidden damage, identify repair requirements, and ensure component traceability throughout the maintenance process. The technician will utilize hand tools, precision measuring equipment, and approved maintenance practices while maintaining compliance with quality and safety standards.  

You will be ESSENTIAL to many FUNCTIONS including: 

Perform teardown and disassembly of aircraft components and assemblies using approved hand and power tools.  
Remove component parts and hardware in accordance with maintenance manuals, engineering data, and applicable FAA regulations. 
Maintain identification and traceability of removed hardware and components throughout the teardown and repair process. 
Read and interpret blueprints, maintenance manuals, illustrated parts catalogs (IPC), and technical documentation. 
Use precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, depth gauges, dial indicators, and scales to inspect critical tolerances. 
Inspect parts and assemblies for wear, corrosion, cracks, heat damage, distortion, and other discrepancies. 
Document damaged or non-conforming components in repair tracking systems and work orders. 
Clean and prepare component parts using approved cleaning agents, solvents, degreasers, and abrasive equipment. 
Support structural and composite repair operations including drilling, riveting, surface preparation, bonding, and curing processes. 
Ensure all work is completed in compliance with company quality procedures, safety standards, and applicable regulatory requirements. 
Maintain calibrated tools, organized work areas, and clean workstations to support safe shop operations. 
Communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. 
Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors or management.  

What you’ll need to bring with you:  

Your Education 
High school diploma or equivalent. 
Associate’s degree in related field (aviation or maintenance mechanic) or equivalent preferred. 
A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal but not required.  

Your Experience 
Experience in aircraft maintenance, component repair, automotive mechanics, or similar technical environments preferred.  
Familiarity with aviation maintenance practices, tooling, and inspection methods preferred.  
FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certification is beneficial but not required.

Maintain regular and reliable attendance, including overtime and weekend assignments as required.  
Notify supervisor prior to shift start if unable to report to work.  
Maintain reliable transportation to and from work.  
Perform all work in accordance with FAA regulations, approved technical data, and company procedures.  
Follow all company safety policies and operational requirements.  

Other Particulars: 

Physical Requirements  
Lift at least 50 lbs. 
Routine walking, bending and squatting or sitting for extended periods.  
Routing or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands. 
Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.  

Mental Requirements 
Ability to interpret technical drawings and maintenance documentation.  
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.  
Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment . 

Working Conditions 
The majority of work will be accomplished in a shop environment.

Personal hand tools supplied by the mechanic. 
Pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical equipment. 
Jacks, stands, lifts and other support devices. 
Personal computer and work order prints.
